Chinese state media says a new round of flooding across central China has killed 33 people and injured more than 100, as AP reported. The Xinhua News Agency says floodwaters toppled homes and destroyed embankments at reservoirs and rivers in Hubei province, where 18 deaths and more than 100 injuries occurred. Citing local officials, Xinhua says torrential rain hit Xianning city from Thursday night to Friday morning, and inundated three counties in the province. Meanwhile, the news agency says 15 people have been confirmed dead and six others reported missing in Hunan province, where flooding has destroyed roads and cut off power supplies and telecommunications. The latest deaths bring the total killed in seasonal flooding this year to at least 87.
