The United States said Monday it was prepared to work with President-elect Ollanta Humala of Peru, who won an election Sunday. Washington's top diplomat for Latin America, Arturo Valenzuela, said on a visit to El Salvador that the United States was "very willing" to work with President-elect Humala.
