The State of Qatar will commission next Tuesday Ras Qartas Energy Plant, the biggest power generation plant in the country. The plant, located at Ras Laffan Industrial City, will produce 2,730 megawatts of electricity, and 63 million gallons of desalinated water at a total cost of 14 billion Qatari Riyals (about $ 4 billion). Vice-Chairman of Ras Qartas Energy Company's Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer Faisal Obeid Al-Siddiqi said in an exclusive interview with Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the Qatari side owns 60% of Ras Qartas strategic plant of which 45% is owned by Qatar Electricity and Water Company and 15 % by Qatar Petroleum (QP).
