Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, expressed thanks to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, for the support it rendered to Bahrain during the recent regrettable incidents. In a statement to the Bahraini News Agency today to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Al Khalifa said the case was a test to the strength and firmness of the GCC and its ability to move swiftly to contain any threats endangering its components, lauding the march of the GCC and its achievements so far and citing the role of the Peninsula Shield Force to streamline this march. However, the Prime Minister of Bahrain called for re-evaluating the interests of the GCC economically, politically and militarily and forging changes in the GCC strategies in a way that enhances the ability of the group to face all political, security and economic challenges. He explained that, at the current time, the GCC needs a strict strategic effort that meets the requirements of the forthcoming phase and portrays a new picture for the future of the region amid the current regional, Arab and international developments.
