A fire killed 14 inmates at a prison in northern Mexico early Friday, a Mexican public safety official said. The official with the Nuevo Leon state Public Safety Department said the fire swept through the psychiatric wing of the prison in the town of Apodaca. He said the fire may have been caused by a short circuit, possibly in a television. The official, speaking to the Associated Press on condition of anonymity, said the incident was under investigation and he could not immediately provide further details.
