Philippine police arrested two Australians and one New Zealand national for allegedly running a prostitution ring victimizing young Filipino women, a police official said Friday. The three foreigners, all males, and two Filipino women accomplices were arrested on Thursday during a raid on a nightclub in Angeles City, 75 kilometers north of Manila, as dpa reported. Chief Superintendent Samuel Pagdilao, chief of the police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, said police rescued 42 women, including a 17-year-old girl, who were allegedly forced into prostitution by the suspects. Pagdilao said most of the girls came from impoverished provinces in the country who were promised well paid jobs by the suspects. He said the suspects were detained at the police headquarters in Angeles City while charges of human trafficking were being prepared against them.
