The government says Mexico's economy grew 4.6 percent in the first quarter of 2011 compared to the same period of 2010. Industrial production led the way, AP reported. The National Statistics Institute says the gross domestic product growth rate has increased slightly. The rate for the last quarter of 2010 was 4.4 percent. The institute says in a statement Thursday that industrial production increased 5.2 percent in the first quarter, followed by the service sector, which posted a 4.4 percent growth. Mexico has been recovering from the 2009 international financial crisis, when the country's economy shrank 6.1 percent. The central bank predicts the economy will grow between 4 and 5 percent in 2011. -- SPA
