Firefighters in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region have extinguished a fire which engulfed a forest on the border of China and Kazakhstan on Tuesday afternoon. The blaze broke out about 4 p.m. in Panfilov in Kazakhstan, and later spread to the neighboring Kazak Autonomous Prefecture of Ili in China, Xinhua quoted Liang Feng, an officer with the prefecture's fire control contingent, as saying. The fire burned about two hectares of secondary forest and was put out at 9 p.m., Liang said, adding that no casualties were reported.
