An international conference on 'Islam and the West - the Civilized Dialogue,' opened today at the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) in Abu Dhabi. The two-day conference, which creates the platform for a dialogue of civilizations, is attended by an elite group of experts in Islamic sciences, civilizations and strategic studies from various organizations and universities in the Gulf region, the Middle East, Europe and Americas, according to a report of the UAE news agency "WAM." Opening the conference, Director General of the ECSSR Jamal Sanad Al-Suwaidi said that the conference seeks to exchange ideas and provide a fruitful discussion on Islam and the West and it translates the efforts of the Centre to extend links between the East and the West.
