In the Far East, 34 out of the 72 wildfires were extinguished during the past day, but 38 fires on a total area of more than 5,200 hectares continued to rage by Saturday morning, the Russian EMERCOM Emergencies Ministry's regional centre reported. The worst situation is in Yakutia -- 19 outbreaks on more than 4,000 hectares. Ablaze are forests in the Amur region and the Khabarovsk Territory, Itar-Tass reported. A total of 1,188 firefighters have been mobilized to put out the blaze. They use 168 vehicles. In Yakutia, an amphibious plane Be-200 of the EMERCOM Far Eastern Air Rescue Centre helps in the work, on a flight discharging up to 12 tonnes of water onto most dangerous outbreaks. A special fire prevention regime with a ban for the population to enter forests is imposed in the Amur Region, the Primorsky Territory and also nine regions of Yakutia, eight regions of the Khabarovsk Territory and six districts in the Jewish Autonomous Region. There is no threat to residential sites and facilities, the EMERCOM regional centre reports. In Siberia, the number of forest fires rose 6.5 times over the past day. The burning area enlarged by 727.7 hectares. By Saturday morning, 78 fires raged on a total area of 923.3 ha, and 28 outbreaks on 434.4 hectares have been localized. According to the EMERCOM Siberian centre, the main causes of the outbreaks are fires set by people and dry grass burning.
