The Kingdom of Morocco has received with great interest the news of the Riyadh-based Gulf Cooperation Council's invitation for it to join the group. In a statement issued here today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation said Morocco has received with great interest the invitation extended to it by the GCC leaders during their 13th Consultative Meeting in Riyadh last night under the chairmanship of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to join the GCC. The statement said Morocco would like to take this chance to remind the importance and specialty of the fraternal relations binding it with the GCC member countries. The statement added that Morocco will remain a staunch member of the Moroccan Union in its capacity as a strategic option for the Moroccan nation. Morocco expressed full readiness to make in-depth consultations with the GCC members for putting a framework for ideal cooperation with this important region of the Arab and Islamic world.
