US stocks rose Monday as commodity prices began to recover from a steep drop last week. A key index of raw materials rose the most since 2009 after falling 11 per cent last week, and shares for commodity producers led the stock rally, according to a report of the German Press Agency "DPA". The blue-chip Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 45.94 points, or 0.36 per cent, to 12,684.68. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 Index added 6.09 points, or 0.45 per cent, to 1,346.29. The technology- heavy Nasdaq Composite Index jumped 15.69 points, or 0.55 per cent, to 2,843.25. The US currency slipped against the euro to 69.66 cents from 69.85 euro cents on Friday. The dollar also lost against the Japanese currency at 80.29 yen from 80.63 yen.
