Awal 29, 1432, May 3, 2011, SPA -- Officials revealed here today two archeological sites in Al-Jubail Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, one goes back to the third century b.c. and the other to the first to the fifth Hijra century. Dr. Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Ghabban, Deputy Chief of the General Commission for Tourism and Antiquities, said his organization is planning to make the two sites open museums. He said the first site is located in Al-Duffi some 14 kilometers away from the city of Jubail. It was the site of Thaj port of the Kingdom of Al-Jarhaa which was dominant in the eastern Arab peninsula before Islam. Initially, the third century b.c. could be suggested as a historical date for the site, he explained. He said the other site: Mardooma is a site for the people of Mardooma area during the Umayyad and Abbasside eras. There were many evidences in the archeological site that the people of Mardooma were fishers.
