Awwal 16, 1432 H/April 20, 2011, SPA -- Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has commended the launch of the United Arab Emirates electricity grid linkage project to the GCC main power grid, which was launched earlier today in Abu Dhabi. In a statement, he said such strategic projects emphasizes the importance of integration among GCC member states in the various fields of development, pointing out that the Gulf electricity linkage project demonstrated its usefulness and importance for the GCC since its inauguration during the summit of their Majesties and Highnesses the leaders of the GCC in Kuwait in 2009. This project, Al-Zayani added, will save a large reserve of electrical power for the GCC states, enabling them to meet the needs of their plans and development projects as well as the requirements of growth and urban expansion.
