Awwal 15, April 19, 2011, SPA -- Prince Mohammad Ibn Fahd Ibn Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province opened Monday evening a new Mental Health Hospital in the governorate of Al-Ahsa, built at a cost of SR 99 million. The Governor also inaugurated Five Centers of Excellence for the Primary Health Care at a cost of SR 17.5 million, as part of a program of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for the establishment of Health Centers in Al-Ahsa governorate. The opening ceremony was attended by Prince Badr Ibn Mohammed Ibn Abdullah Ibn Jalawi, Governor of Al Ahsa. On arrival at the new Hospital, Prince Mohammad Ibn Fahd was received by Minister of Health, Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah and a number of senior officials. Later, the Governor also toured the new Mental Health Hospital and was briefed by the Health Minister on its facilities and medical services. The new hospital has 100 beds in-patient facility that could be raised to 200 beds. Al-Ahsa's new Hospital is part of 16 New Hospitals for Mental Health, which are currently under implementation by the Ministry of Health in various regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which have a total in-patient capacity of 4,150 beds.
