au-Prince/Buenos Aires, Jumada Al-Awwal 11, 1432 H. / April 15, 2011, SPA-- The definitive results of Haiti's presidential election have been postponed till Monday, the UN Mission for the Stabilization of Haiti (MINUSTAH) said on its website Friday according to dpa. The final results of the March 20 runoff election between popular singer Michel Martelly and former first lady Mirlande Manigat were originally scheduled to be made public Saturday. According to preliminary results of the election which Haitian electoral authorities made public earlier this month, Martelly won the presidency with 67.6 per cent of the votes, to Manigat's 31.7 per cent. The first round of presidential elections in November was marked by chaos and charges of manipulation and corruption. After that first vote, Martelly was third behind Manigat and Preval's chosen successor Jude Celestin. But exit polls and observation by neutral groups indicated that Martelly should have taken second place, and violence broke out in the streets. Under pressure from the international community, Celestin eventually withdrew amid allegations of vote fraud. Martelly took his place in the runoff.
