au-Prince, Safar 30, 1432 H/Feb 03, 2011, SPA -- Haiti announced Thursday musician Michel Martelly will square off against former first lady Mirlande Manigat in the country's run-off presidential election next month. The election will be an opportunity for the impoverished country to move past months of turmoil following November balloting that left Haiti in a political stalemate, dpa reported. Government backed candidate Jude Celestin finished in second place in the first round of voting November 28, but that outcome was plagued by allegations of fraud. Celestin has now been barred from the run-off as Martelly, who originally placed third, was moved into second place and qualified for the next round of voting. -- SPA
