Khobar, Jumada Al-Awwal 05, April 09, 2011, SPA -- Prince Mohammed Ibn Fahd Ibn Abdulaziz, Governor of Eastern Province will open here on April 24, the Sixth National Forum for Geographic Information Systems (GIS), organized by the Province's Governorate. Under Secretary of the Governorate Zarb bin Saeed Al-Qahtani said that the Forum's Organizing Committee invited a number of academicians and specialists from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and abroad to attend the three-day activities and deliberations of the Forum which will be available on the web-site as well as could be watched through Closed-Door Television Circuit. For his part, Chairman of the Technical Committee for Geographic Information Systems and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Forum, Dr. Abdullah Bin Hussain Al-Qadhi said the key axes of the Forum would include information management and accessibility; industry maps; education and training in the field of geographic information systems and applications in the petroleum industry and emergency and disaster management; its applications in the field of health and safety, environment, transportation management and mobile technology and applications, telecommunications and municipal services based on the sites. The Forum's program includes the establishment of the first two workshops, namely "Activation of the role of GIS in the management of urban development in municipalities" and "The Usage of Model-Builder Pattern based on analytical models in geographic information systems."
