Saudi Aramco's EXPEC Computer Center (ECC) received recently the Special Achievement in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) award at the Environmental Systems Research Institute's (ESRI) 26th Annual User Conference. In recognition of their outstanding work in the field of GIS, a three-member ECC/GIS group accepted the award on behalf of ECC, according to a report of carried by Saudi Aramco's web-site. The award was presented by Jack Dangermond, the president and founder of ESRI. "This recognition of success is the result of teamwork between ECC and users in pursuing innovative ideas with the latest technology," said ECC acting general manager Raed H. Al-Rabeh. The award marks the second straight year that ECC has been acknowledged by ESRI. The integrated E&P desktop GIS application was the first-place winner in the user software applications fair at the 2005 ESRI International User Conference. ECC was one of 150 sites chosen for consideration from among more than 100,000 user sites worldwide. The conference was attended by more than 14,000 people from 130 countries.
