pledge was concluded between Imam Mohammed bin Saud and Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulwahab on the bases of the Islamic Sharia law, itself a pillar of the new Saudi State. Despite the tribal origins of Imam Mohammed bin Saud descending from Bani Hanifa, he never opted to the tribal or racial base for his State. Instead, he sought the religious base whcih remained the continuous commitment of the State up to now, Prince Salman said. He said the success of the First Saudi State in laying the foundations of stability, security and prudent rule, triggered the enemies of a highly valued State to work for its collapse. They started with depicting it as a mere Wahabi sectarian State. Prince Salman called for re-reading the literature of Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulwahab and challenged if any could find what contradicts the holy Quran and Sunna. He cited some statements by King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud, the founder of the Saudi third State, refuting the accusation that his State is a Wahabi sect follower. We are followers of our predecessors the Prophet, his Khalefates and the four Imams, he added. We don't differentiate between Imam Malik, or Al-Shafe'ee or Ahmed ibn Hanbal or Abi Hanifa, he stated. Prince Salman attributed the rebound of the Saudi State after two foiled attempts to the throne to the deep-rooted bases implanted during the First Saudi State. He said the French historian Felix Manjan who witnessed the fall of the Saudi First State has predicted the return of the Saudi State to power even thought the Saudi Family have dispersed and chaos have overwhelmed the area, attributing his expectations to the existence of the same principles despite the disappearance of the leaders at the time. --More
