Akhir 24, 1432 H/March 29, 2011, SPA -- The 40th extraordinary meeting for Directors General of Customs Departments in the Gulf Cooperation Council member countries wrapped up here today, discussing a number of pending issues, including the requirements of the customs union of the GCC member states. Following the meeting, Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Atiyyah, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, underscored the importance of reaching agreement and settling the pending issues that cripple reaching the final situation of the customs union. He said the GCC customs authorities should build on agreements reached on the unified customs law, unified customs tariff and creation of sole entry post. He added that the GCC Customs committee will continue discussions in an scheduled meeting in Abu-Dhabi on April 26, 2011.
