The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Atiyyah underscored the importance of the GCC member states attach to the Joint Cooperation Agreement which was concluded between the GCC and the European Union in 1988. In a key address at the coordinatory meeting of the GCC member states, Al-Atiyyah said the purpose of the meeting is to activate the Joint Cooperation Agreement. The meeting discussed proposals by the GCC member countries on the fields suggested for cooperation with the European side in addition to proposals of the Secretariat General of the European Commission.
