Akhir 23, 1432 / March 28, 2011, SPA -- King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) signed a memorandum of understanding here today with U.S. Internet 2 Network aiming at more networking linkage between them to further promote joint research cooperation. Deputy President of KACST Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Suwailem said the MoU aims at providing an independent high line capacity that double with hundred folds the speeds currently operating. Despite high speeds, jamming will be avoided through the network's technology, he explained. He said the MoU avails joint developing of joint computer technologies before launching any as a final product and provides distinguished services to the academic and research organizations in the Kingdom. Furthermore, the MoU opens the door wide for joint cooperation between KACST and Internet 2 organization to develop the mechanisms and operate the networking systems as well as their regulations in addition to that it transfers this technology as part of the Kingdom's comprehensive national plan for science and technology.
