Akhir 11, 1432 / March 16, 2011, SPA -- Jordanian King Abdullah II received here today Spanish Foreign Minister Trinidad Jimenez. During the meeting, they discussed means of forging closer cooperation between Jordan and Spain as well as the current situation in the Middle East. The Jordanian King reviewed with the Spanish minister the role that could be played by the European Union to support peace efforts with the aim of establishing an independent Palestinian state on the Palestinian national soil. The Spanish foreign minister stressed the EU's support to aspirations of the Palestinian people to establish an independent Palestinian state on the basis of the two-state solution living in peace and security alongside Israel. She also highlighted the EU's support to Jordan's political and economic reforms as well as to measures taken by the King to achieve comprehensive political and economic reforms.
