Akhir 08, 1432 / March 13, 2011, SPA -- King Abdullah II of Jordan attended here today the opening ceremony of the 5th session of Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water council which was held in the presence of Prince Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the Assistant Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General for Military Affairs and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water. The prize, launched in 2002, is awarded to outstanding scientific contributions related to surface water, ground water, alternative non-traditional water resources, and water conservation especially in dry areas. In opening remarks, Prince Khalid warned that water future does not call for optimism, calling for stiff legislation to fight what he called "water piracy". The opening ceremony was attended by Prince Faisal bin Al-Hussein, Prime Minister Marouf Bakhit of Jordan, Jordanian senior officials, Minister of Water and Electricity Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Al-Husayn of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Saudi Ambassador to Jordan Fahd bin Abdulmohsen Al-Zaid and a number of guests.
