Akhir 1432 / March 07, 2011, SPA -- Prince Nawaf bin Faisal bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz was today unanimously elected President of the Arab Soccer Union at the union General Assembly's 16th extraordinary session held in Jeddah. The meeting was attended by heads of Arab soccer national unions. At the outset of the meeting, Prince Nawaf bin Faisal bin Fahd welcomed the conferees in their second country: the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, thanking outgoing President of the union Prince Sultan bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz for the efforts he exerted to upgrade the Arab soccer regionally and internationally. He also conveyed to them the greetings and thanks of Prince Sultan bin Fahd for the cooperation accorded to him by their national organizations making his long career a complete success. Following the meeting, Prince Nawaf bin Faisal bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz thanked the heads of Arab soccer unions for the sincere feelings they expressed on the safe return and good health of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. Also, he extended his thanks to them for unanimously elected him as President of the Arab Soccer Union, vowing to remain sincere and on call. He disclosed that the General Assembly abolished the post of Deputy Executive President and amended the name of the Financial Committee to become the Financial, Commercial Marketing and Investment Committee. With a maximum of two, each committee was allowed to embrace additional members if deemed necessary. He said the General Assembly has reviewed the May 1, 2010 - February 25, 2011 administrative and financial report as well as the task plan and budget for the fiscal year 2011 - 2012. He said the names of commercial sponsors of the union's activities and programs will be announced over the next three weeks.
