Akhir 02, 1432 H/March 7, 2011, SPA -- A union representing German train drivers said they have voted to go on strike in a pay dispute with the state-owned national railway and smaller private operators, according to AP. The GDL union said Monday more than 90 percent of members who voted in a ballot supported strikes. The DAPD news agency said it didn't specify when they would walk out. The union already has staged several short «warning strikes» in recent weeks, a regular tactic in German wage negotiations, to underline its demands. The vote allows it to expand that action into all-out strikes. GDL is demanding a one-size-fits-all pay agreement covering drivers who work both for the main national railway operator, Deutsche Bahn, and private companies that operate some routes and in some case pay lower wages.
