Thani 01,1432, March 06, 2011, SPA -- Philippine President Benigno Aquino III on Sunday appointed a new military chief. Aquino named Lieutenant Eduardo Oban, a fighter pilot and planner of some of the military's key programmes, as the new chief of staff. He replaces General Ricardo David, who retires on Monday. "I have no doubt of his capability to continue the reforms that General David started and to intensify the armed forces' peace programmes," he told graduates of the Philippine Military Academy. "I hope he will serve as an inspiration to your class so we can achieve our dreams for our country," he was quoted as saying by the German Press Agency "DPA".
