Awwal 29, 1432 H/March 4, 2011, SPA -- One man died and two others were missing when a group of nine snowmobilers were lost in bad weather during a tour in northern Norway, police said Friday. According to dpa, a search operation was launched on Thursday, after the group alerted police that they had lost their way on a mountain trail near Porsanger, in Finnmark county. Visibility was very poor due to heavy snowfall and strong winds. The storm prevented the initial use of a helicopter, but conditions improved later, allowing a helicopter to be deployed. The other six members of the group were found overnight and were taken to Hammerfest hospital. Four were being treated for mild hypothermia. The group, aged 17 to 22, included three women. Units from the defence forces and home guard were taking part in the search.
