Awwal 24, 1432 H/Feb 27, 2011, SPA -- Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan will miss a scheduled meeting with EU Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso set for Tuesday, a spokesman for Barroso said on Sunday, according to Reuters. Erdogan, currently in Germany where he was scheduled to meet Chancellor Angela Merkel on Monday, will be returning to Turkey for the funeral of former Turkish Prime Minister Necmettin Erbakan, the founder of Turkey's modern Islamist movement. A German government spokeswoman was not able to say whether Erdogan would be able to keep Monday's appointment with Merkel. Barroso's spokesman said his office was aiming to schedule a new meeting later in the week.
