Awwal 10, 1432 H/Feb 13, 2011, SPA -- Minister of Justice Dr. Mohammed bin Abdul Karim Al-Essa received here today Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Chief Executive of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Yuri Fedotov and the accompanying delegation. The meeting dealt with issues of common concern. During the meeting, the Minister explained that the number of criminal cases in the Kingdom is low compared to other States adding that published statistics clearly show this difference. The minister attributed this to the application of the Islamic Sharia (Law) according to its moderate concepts and just rules and the awareness of the Saudi citizens. The minister highlighted the kingdom's security and stability and its ability to prosecute crimes of terrorism, as well as drugs that are no less dangerous than terrorism. The minister added that the Kingdom punishes the crime of terrorism gravely as well as the crime of terrorism financing. --More
