Awwal 05, 1432 H/Feb 08, 2011, SPA -- Eurozone leaders are expected to convene in Brussels for a special meeting to discuss economic reforms on March 13, diplomats said on Tuesday, according to dpa. At a European Union summit on Friday, euro area members agreed to embark on stronger economic coordination, amid rumours of a Franco-German push for radical reforms such as introducing a constitutional ban on budget deficits. "March 13 is the likely date" for the plans to be discussed again by the 17 members of the EU's single currency, a diplomat told the German Press Agency dpa. "It is probable, but it is still to be confirmed," another source said. After chairing last week's talks, EU President Herman Van Rompuy only said that a special top-level eurozone meeting, prior to a full EU summit on March 24-25, was "likely." On Tuesday, Van Rompuy added that the eurozone talks would take place "in mid-March."
