Awwal 02, 1432 H/Feb 05, 2011, SPA -- A union representing nearly 2,100 employees of the Canadian Pacific Railway, Canada's second largest railroad, has reached a tentative labor agreement that averts a strike planned for Tuesday. Canadian Pacific spokesman Mark Seland said Saturday that the agreement is expected to be ratified by the union in three weeks. Details of the agreement will be released after its ratification, according to AP. The deal was reached just before midnight Friday after nearly a week of negotiations. In late January, the Canadian Auto Workers reached a tentative contract agreement with the Montreal-based Canadian National Railway, the country's biggest railroad, also averting a strike.
