Awwal 02, 1432 H/Feb 05, 2011, SPA -- Iraq's mobile phone company AsiaCell said that an American, a British and a Spanish businessman were among the seven people killed in a plane crash in the country's north. A company statement on Saturday added the three Westerners were guests of an Iraqi businessman, an AsiaCell board member, who also died in Friday's crash, AP reported. The crew _ two Jordanians and a Lebanese _ were also killed. The small plane's engine caught on fire shortly after taking off from the Sulaimaniyah airport in northern Iraq. It tried to land but crashed in a heavy snowstorm. It was headed to the Turkish capital of Ankara. The authorities have blamed the crash on a mechanical failure. Sulaimaniyah is 160 miles (260 kilometers) northeast of Baghdad.
