U.S. troops on Thursday raided a hotel in a northern Iraq town and detained three Iranians, two of them said to be government officials from the neighboring country's border area, a Kurdish official in Iraq said. The morning raid by American forces took place at the Sulaimaniyah Palace Hotel in the center of Sulaimaniyah, 260 kilometers (160 miles) northeast of Baghdad, according to an official of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, or PUK. The party is headed by Iraq's President Jalal Talabani, a Kurd, according to a report of the Associated Press.
