Ahmed Sadeq, Spokesman of the Saudi Soccer Federation and Chairman of the Information and Statistics Committee, an affiliate of the SSF, today denied recent media reports that Saudi Arabia's senior sports authority has chosen the Argentinean coach Pauza to lead its country's first national soccer team. Sadeq quoted Prince Nawaf bin Faisal bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz, General President of Youth Welfare, as instructing that the General Presidency is keen to choose a foreign coach after a thorough study of a number of C.V.s and files of coaches with the aim to reduce the number of candidates before choosing one of them. The same procedure is being followed to choose a Saudi Technical Director for the team, he said, adding that first priority is now given to evaluating the current situation, slowly and carefully studying how to evade the errors of the past and to prepare for the next step so that Saudi soccer could make its rebound to the crowning platform.
