Youth unemployment in the European Union is rising worryingly, a report from the bloc's executive said Friday, whilst overall jobless number remained high but constant, dpa reported. The European Commission's monthly monitor on employment stressed that the EU's unemployment rate has remained stuck at 9.6 per cent since February 2010 - a sign that conditions in the labour market have stabilized. However, "the labour market for young people in the EU is still showing worrying developments: youth unemployment has started rising again after a decrease from May to August and is now 89,000 higher than in November 2009," the report said. According to November 2009 Eurostat figures, the most serious situation is in Spain, where 43.6 per cent of people aged 15-24 are reported out of work, against a 21-per-cent average in the EU. -- SPA
