The unemployment rate in the crisis-battered eurozone held steady at 10.3 per cent in November, remaining at its highest level since the launch of the common currency, dpa cited data released on Friday as showing. The percentage was in line with analysts' expectations. The number of those out of work did go up slightly in November by 45,000, bringing to 16.372 million the total in the 17-member single currency area, according to the Eurostat, the European Union's statistics agency. In the wider 27-member EU, another 55,000 people joined the jobless ranks - boosting them to 23.674 million people - but the overall unemployment rate also remained unchanged at 9.8 per cent. Spain continued to top the unemployment list with a rate of 22.9 per cent, followed by Greece and Lithuania. The lowest rates were found in Austria, Luxembourg and the Netherlands, Eurostat said.
