Austrian President Heinz Fischer emphasized here today the importance of incorporating Muslims in Europe on the basis of faith mutual respect, pointing out that the year 2012 will witness the celebration for the 100-year Austrian legal recognition of Islam as an official religion. During an audience with members of foreign Diplomatic Corps accredited to Vienna to mark the advent the new year, the president hailed all exerted efforts, now and in the past, to promote peaceful co-existence among various and different sects. Austrian initiatives for dialogue among different faith followers aim at encouraging racial, cultural and religious plurality, he added. The President also said Muslims share the burden of fighting extremism with the other world in general and Europe in particular. -- SPA
