Austrian President Heinz Fischer and the accompanying delegation visited here today the Shoura (consultative) Council where he was welcomed by the Shoura's Chairman Dr Salih Bin Humeid. Dr Bin Humeid briefed him on the activities and achievements of the Shoura. They reviewed issues of mutual interest including means for enhancing cooperation between the Shoura and the Austrian parliament. The Austrian President underlined the importance of his visit to the Shoura in the light of his close relation with parliamentary work for more than 33 years, and hailed the developments witnessed by the Shoura. In a press statement, Fischer highlighted the existing friendly relations between Saudi Arabia and Austria, and expressed appreciation for the warm welcomed given to him by the Saudi officials. He noted that he had reviewed with Dr Bin Humeid a number of topics including the situation of the Muslims in Austria.
