The International Islamic Relief Organization of Saudi Arabia (IIROSA), an affiliate of the Muslim World League (MWL) has appealed to humanitarian organizations, both at regional and global levels to provide urgent assistance to the Somali people because of the drought and famine situation in the country. IIROSA Secretary-General Dr. Adnan bin Khalil Basha said the urgent appeal is prompted by reports which have confirmed that nearly 3 million people including a large numbers of women, children and the elderly in Somalia, are currently threatened by famine and battered by drought.
