At least 106 people were killed late last night in a stampede following a religious festival in southern Indian state of Kerala. Kerala's Interior Minister Jay Kumaran said the death of these people occurred while they were returning home after a religious festival across the foot of a hill late last night when a motorist lost control and headed directly into the crowd, leading to a scramble. He confirmed the death of 106 people in the ensuing stampede.
