An elephant killed a woman and two men Wednesday during a temple festival in India's southern Kerala state, news reports said, according to dpa. It happened at the Koodalmanikyam temple in Kerala's Thrissur district, about 320 kilometres north of state capital Thiruvananthapuram, IANS and PTI news agencies reported. The woman was trampled to death, while the men were chased by the elephant and impaled on one of its tusks, temple sources were quoted as saying. The elephant also caused extensive damage to the temple, police said, while at least three people were severely injured in a stampede as terrified devotees rushed to escape.
