A gunman killed three people and wounded three others when he opened fire during an early morning quarrel in a village in southern Ukraine, local police said on Sunday. A police statement, quoted by Interfax-Ukraine news agency, said the shooting took place early on Saturday morning in the village of Vasilyevka when a 33-year-old man opened fire with a rifle. According to Reuters, those killed were a 30-year-old local woman, her 35-year-old husband and a neighbour, aged 62. The three wounded included a 14-year-old boy. A blaze broke out in the house after the shooting, a separate emergencies ministry statement said. Firemen who went to the scene initially came under fire from the man. He was subsequently detained and was being questioned by police.
