The official spokesman of the Ministry of Justice Sheikh Abdullah Alsaadan said that the Special Criminal Court is continuing consideration of the detainees of the deviant group crimes in Saudi Arabia and conspiring against the national security. The total number of cases considered by the court until the end of 1431 AH is 442 (four hundred and forty-two) cases involving 765 (seven hundred and sixty-five) detainees for various charges. The court issued initial sentences in these cases. Until this date, 325 (three hundred and twenty-five) cases of them were appealed. The cases against the detainees who were tried included charges of joining al Qaeda and its terrorist activities; embracing its ideology; supporting and funding its crimes; communicating with its leaders and elements; hiding them; forming terrorist cells; inciting to fight and recruiting for fighting in troubled areas; communicating, coordinating and working with foreign parties to conspire against the national security by causing chaos and insecurity; trafficking and smuggling weapons and possessing prohibited substances according to law and Shari'ah. The official spokesman of the Ministry of Justice said that results of the trials will be announced periodically until the completion of the special arrangements to enable the media, which are authorized by the competent authority at the Ministry of Justice, to attended sessions allowed by the judges.
