Authorities were forced to cancel 32 domestic and international flights from Pakistani airports during the pas twenty-four hours due to bad weather as a result of heavy fog, said the Civil Aviation Authority. In a statement issued here today, the Civil Aviation Authority of Pakistan said that the Peshawar airport was the worst fog-affected among airports in various cities. It was followed by airports in Islamabad and Lahore. Out of the total cancellation, 24 were international flights and 8 domestic flights, the statement added. Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, was forced to return from the city of Lahore to Islamabad by road because of heavy fog overcast skies. On the other hand, Pakistani police said they recorded more than thirty traffic accidents during the past two days because of heavy fog. These accidents led to the death of seven people. The Authority also announced the closing of the highways linking the cities during the night hours to reduce traffic accidents.
