The General Assembly of Islamic Broadcasting (Radio and Television) Union held here today its first meeting under the chairmanship of the Minister of Culture and Information, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Muhaydin Khoja, who is also the Union's Executive President. The meeting was attended by the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, and representatives of the Union's member states. Addressing the meeting, Prof. Ihsanoglu pointed out that the 3rd Extraordinary Islamic Summit held in Makkah in response to the call of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Ibn Abdulaziz, has emphasized the urgent need for the development of the OIC actions in information spheres, wishing all success for the meeting to come out with appropriate decisions to meet the new targets of the Islamic world in the field of joint Islamic action, to defend the Islamic nations from malicious attacks, and to highlight the real image of Islam. --More
