The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Yemen signed an agreement to establish an extensive UAE-funded database of Yemen's population. The agreement was signed by Nasser Mohamed Matar Al Mazrouei, Executive Director for Communications & Information Systems at Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA) and Maj. Gen. Riad Al Qurashi, Undersecretary of the Yemeni Interior Ministry for Financial and Administrative Affairs. The project aims to create a technologically advanced infrastructure and database for issuance of e-passports and ID cards, according to Al Mazrouie in remarks at the signing ceremony. For his part, the Yemeni senior official praised the UAE's support to development in his country, the UAE news agency "WAM" reported.
