The Gynecologic Oncology Unit (GOU) of King Abdulaziz University (KAU) Hospital together with the Society of Canadian Colposcopists (SCC) are scheduled to organize a comprehensive international Colposcopy course to be held from December 13-15 2010 at the Jeddah-based King Abdulaziz University. The event's programme is due to kick off at 11.00 hrs at the Grand Hall of King Fahd Center for Medical Research in the presence of Prof Osama S. Tayyeb, KAU President. According to Dr Khalid Sait, Chairman of the Saudi Gynecologic Oncology Group (SGOG) and Head of the Gynecologic Oncology Unit (GOU) of King Abdulaziz University Hospital, upon completion of the course, learners are expected to be able to recognize the diagnostic characteristics of cervical abnormalities, describe the prevention of cervical neoplasia and genital warts using prophylactic HPV vaccines as well as applying new standards for cervical cancer screening, including HPV testing. Dr Sait was also quoted as saying that the course has 8 accredited hours from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS), and that a number of local and international speakers are scheduled to take part, including Prof James R. Bentley, SCC's President.
