Hijjah 25, 1431, Dec 01, 2010, SPA -- The ruling National Democratic Party has garnered up to 209 seats of the nation's 508-member legislative assembly in the first round of the parliamentary elections, according to official results declared early on Wednesday. Independent candidates won seven seats and the opposition parties five, in the nationwide elections, held last Sunday, according to a report of Kuwait News Agency (KUNA). Judge Abdel Aziz Omar, the head of the higher electoral committee, said that run-off polls would be held in up to 283 constituencies, of more than 60 percent of the seats of the People's Assembly (Parliament).
